Project Description

ZCOM Memo Avatar

The term memory as an English designation for the diverse storage possibilities of a computer can also mean remembering at the same time. Every person has his or her own memory store, which is made up of the most diverse experiences, thoughts and experiences. Our exhibit Memo Avatar for the ZCOM Zuse Computer Museum Hoyerswerda is dedicated to this topic.

The exhibit makes human memories visible and stores them. At the same time, it also illustrates the transparent nature of human beings, which results from the disclosure and storage of private information on the Internet.

Implementation

A vertical display is placed in the centre of the room and shows an avatar of a transparent human. At a control panel in front of it, visitors can anonymously share a memory on a touch screen. The process of entering the memory is accompanied by a computer voice. On the large screen and a projection, an animation shows how the memory is linked and stored in the virtual body. Memories that have already been stored are shown as particles and differentiated by size, shape or colour to represent different categories of memories.
