Experiencing Energy at the Swiss Museum of Transport

Energy is the foundation of our modern society. It brings light into darkness, powers machines, and keeps our digital world running. But how does electricity reach the places where we need it? And what lies behind the interplay of supply, storage, and consumption? To bring these questions to life, we developed three interactive installations for the Swiss Museum of Transport.

Each exhibit translates complex energy topics into playful, intuitive experiences:

  • Grid Control Room illustrates how the European power grid works and why it is crucial to keep frequencies in balance.
  • Tiny Planet visualizes the flow of energy through a city like Lucerne. Visitors interact with an abstracted city model to discover how energy moves through everyday life.
  • Power Journey accompanies grid electricians as they work at great heights, offering a compelling look at the challenges of maintaining power lines.

Together with a team of designers, scenographers, and game developers, we created an immersive experience that anchors knowledge through interaction on an emotional level. The exhibition not only explains how today’s energy systems work but also opens up perspectives on a more sustainable future. As global energy demand increases, topics such as efficiency, storage technologies, and the integration of renewable energy sources are becoming even more relevant.
